Art to Finish Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I have to start and finish my project on the day of the event?
Yes! Art to Finish is a contest where all projects must be created on the day of the event. You can plan your project before the day of the event. This might include doing some preliminary sketches, writing a script for a short film, creating a timeline for a short story, or choreographing a dance.

How do I present my project?
The presentation of your project will depend somewhat on what your project is, however here are some guidelines:
    • 2-Dimensional Work - Should be submitted with some consideration given to the presentation, such as a matte board or frame.
    • 3-Dimensional Work - Should be submitted so that it can be easily displayed on the floor or a table. Small items, such as jewelry should also have an additional stand or some way to display and transport easily.
    • Writing - Should be submitted so that it can be easily read within 5 minutes. Visual presentation should be considered, but will not be judged.
    • Performance - Should be submitted in a digital format, with a digital display or audio, as necessary.

What if I have limitations that prevent me from working in the allotted time frame or location?
If you have any special requests for how you need to create, please reach out to us and we will work with you to find a solution. No one should feel like they cannot participate because of any limitation.

    How is the art judged?
We have selected qualified judges for each of the categories and they use a list of criteria to evaluate each piece. You can view those criteria here.

    What if it rains?
Art to Finish is a rain-or-shine event. If there is rain and it prevents you from creating your work in the allotted space you can move to a location outside of the boundaries. We will have space set up at the registration location for work to be created if it is needed.

How early can I turn in my work?
You can turn in your completed project as early as 2 PM on the day of the event.

How late can I turn in my work?
All work must be turned in by 4 PM on the day of the event.

How will you know that the work is started and finished on the day of the event?
The truth is, we won’t! This is on the honor system, but if we suspect that you did not follow the rules you will not be eligible for any of the awards or prizes.

What if I win an award and do not want my work to be in the A2F Show during Ethos on August 28th?
That is totally fine, just let one of the staff know that you will be taking your piece home on the 7th.

If my piece is chosen for the A2F Show where will it be stored until that event?
All works will be stored in a safe dry location and will be treated with care.
